SNOW DAY

This past weekend was invigorating. Sometimes events and people invigorate me, other times, what I need is to hunker down and get big stretches of time at home with my babies.  It's been a harrowing couple of weeks - the day-to-day has felt rushed and I have felt stressed without knowing exactly why - so I really needed some time at home to just be.  This kind of time makes me feel more connected to my home and to my kids, and I am convinced more than ever that that it's a discipline that I need to practice for my sanity and overall well-being.

Ken needed to do some studying this past weekend so I hadn't made any plans for Saturday (I wrote "HOME" on my calendar to make sure it stayed cleared) and then Friday night it started snowing! So it ended up being a perfect day to be homebound. We had a slow morning of chocolate chip pancakes, reading, and candy canes for dessert, and then we went out to play in the snow.  I am not fond of snow - although I very much appreciate the beauty of it - but the girls' excitement overrides my reluctance and I had great fun outside with them.  The day also included housework, baking gingerbread cookies, making paper snowflakes, watching videos, and eating spaghetti.

I've had these for weeks and they dried just like this and still smell wonderful.

That there is a drawing of Sloane by my cousin, Lois!

More dried eucalyptus, all over the house.

My mom sent these jackets and snow pants from Korea (just in time!) - they definitely helped assure me that the girls would stay warm and dry.
